Sebastian Currier’s Ongoingness receives its world premiere with harpist Bridget Kibbey and the Calidore String Quartet on January 21, 2024.

The newest music theatre work by Manfred Trojahn has its world premiere on 3 December at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Septembersonate is based on a story by Henry James, in which a middle-aged man encounters the ghostly apparition of what he could have become if he had led his life differently.

The Berliner Philharmoniker has released a new box of Unsuk Chin recordings, documenting its collaborations with the composer over the past 20 years. The audio CDs and Blu-ray feature six major works, including the first recording of Le silence des Sirènes, as well as a 45-minute filmed interview.

Two major festival features for Steve Reich are presented by Radio France and the Hallé in Manchester in early February. The Présences series of 11 concerts in Paris includes the European premiere of Reich’s most recent work Jacobs’s Ladder, while Colin Currie leads a three-day collaboration between the Hallé orchestra and the Royal Northern College of Music.

The latest large-scale work by Karl Jenkins, One World, receives its concert premiere at the Brucknerhaus in Linz on 19 November with the performance live streamed. This follows the summer release of the album by Decca Records and the publication of the vocal score by Boosey & Hawkes.

The Cello Concerto by Australian-born composer Brett Dean has won the 2023 Ivor Novello Award for best orchestral composition of the year. Now resident in the UK, Dean is this season’s Composer in Residence at the Wigmore Hall, featured across a series of concerts.
